Cédric Cayla is President and Chief Executive Officer of Brightstone Financial Group and President of 1642 Capital.
An accomplished wealth management professional, Cédric helps international families meet their investment needs and objectives. With more than 15 years in the financial sector, he has built broad experience in capital allocation, corporate development and trust services. A native Montrealer, Cédric spent close to a decade in Europe building 1642 Capital’s global reach and shaping its vision. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family and indulging his passions for French wine, independent cinema and basketball

Julie Elmlinger is President of Brightstone Trust Company. She also heads the Group’s legal affairs.
With more than ten years within the firm, Julie knows every aspect of it. Before joining in 2014, she spent some twelve years in business law and securities at national law firms including Norton Rose Fulbright and McCarthy Tétrault. Julie has chaired or served on several boards of directors, including those of the Orchestre Métropolitain and the OFF.T.A. festival, as well as IGOPP’s young executives committee. She is the author of numerous publications and has lectured on business law and securities. Julie is also a member of Women4Climate. An avid reader, she has a passion for philosophy, economics and politics.

Mark D’Souza is Chairman of the Boards of Brightstone Financial Group and of 1642 Capital.
Mark is a seasoned financial executive with over a decade in wealth management and, before that, more than 20 years in corporate finance, including several years at Quebecor in both Canada and Europe. He sits on the boards of a number of corporations and non-profit organizations. Mark holds an LL.B. from Université de Montréal and an MBA (Finance) from HEC Montréal, and has completed the Directors Education Program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. Curious by nature, he loves to travel and to share his taste in music and film with those close to him. His true passion, however, remains his family. Nothing makes him happier than a weekend in the country with his children and grandchildren, who are his greatest pride.

Michael Keenan is the Chief Investment Officer of 1642 Capital.
Michael is an experienced investment professional with more than 25 years in institutional fund management. Prior to joining 1642 Capital, he spent over 20 years with Bimcor Inc., the pension investment subsidiary of the Bell Canada group of companies, including seven years as Chief Investment Officer. He is a past Chair of the Pension Investment Association of Canada and sits as an independent advisor on several investment committees for pension and trust organizations. A CFA charterholder, Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts & Science (Economics) from McMaster University and an M.A. (Economics) from Western University. He believes that independence, discipline and humility are key ingredients for long-term investment success.

Philippe Bouchard is Vice-President of Brightstone Trust Company and specializes in estate planning and trust administration.
Philippe is a member of the Quebec and Paris Bars and has professional experience in both Quebec and Europe. He holds a Juris Doctor in North American Common Law and a Masters in International Business Law from the University of London (UK). He is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). In his spare time, you’re likely to find Philippe enjoying outdoor activities or defending the goal in a field hockey match. Passionate about politics, he is particularly interested in the major issues facing society today, whether over a meal or in lively discussion.
Sylvain Guénette

Sylvain Guénette is Chief Financial Officer, and heads custody operations as well as the accounting services offered to clients.
He brings more than six years of experience within the firm. Before joining in 2020, Sylvain held Vice-President, Finance roles and other senior financial positions with a range of companies, including American Iron & Metal, Labopharm and various companies within the Quebecor group. His entrepreneurial side led him to co-found a pharmaceutical company in 2013, where he still serves as a director. Sylvain likes to spend his free time with family and friends over a good meal or playing one of the many sports he pursues.
