Julie Elmlinger is President of Brightstone Trust Company. She also heads the Group’s legal affairs.

With more than ten years within the firm, Julie knows every aspect of it. Before joining in 2014, she spent some twelve years in business law and securities at national law firms including Norton Rose Fulbright and McCarthy Tétrault. Julie has chaired or served on several boards of directors, including those of the Orchestre Métropolitain and the OFF.T.A. festival, as well as IGOPP’s young executives committee. She is the author of numerous publications and has lectured on business law and securities. Julie is also a member of Women4Climate. An avid reader, she has a passion for philosophy, economics and politics.

Philippe Bouchard is Vice-President of Brightstone Trust Company and specializes in estate planning and trust administration.

Philippe is a member of the Quebec and Paris Bars and has professional experience in both Quebec and Europe. He holds a Juris Doctor in North American Common Law and a Masters in International Business Law from the University of London (UK). He is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). In his spare time, you’re likely to find Philippe enjoying outdoor activities or defending the goal in a field hockey match. Passionate about politics, he is particularly interested in the major issues facing society today, whether over a meal or in lively discussion.

Sylvain Guénette is Chief Financial Officer, and heads custody operations as well as the accounting services offered to clients.

He brings more than six years of experience within the firm. Before joining in 2020, Sylvain held Vice-President, Finance roles and other senior financial positions with a range of companies, including American Iron & Metal, Labopharm and various companies within the Quebecor group. His entrepreneurial side led him to co-found a pharmaceutical company in 2013, where he still serves as a director. Sylvain likes to spend his free time with family and friends over a good meal or playing one of the many sports he pursues.

Patrick oversees the financial and transactional operations of our trust clients. His career spans more than 25 years in banking and depositary financial services for individuals, companies and trusts, in both Switzerland and Canada. Across a range of institutions, he held roles as a corporate credit advisor, investment advisor and relationship manager before joining the firm in 2015. Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. He enjoys reading and watching films, as well as outdoor activities such as airsoft.

Odile began her career at LVMH in Europe before moving to Montreal, where she worked in real estate and then at a single-family office, becoming well versed in managing complex wealth structures. At 1642 Capital, she oversees the external accounting firms responsible for trust accounting and tax compliance. Precision, transparency and strong professional relationships are at the heart of her work. She holds a master’s degree in International Economics from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Odile follows major sociopolitical and international issues closely. An enthusiastic walker, she finds her walks a welcome time for reflection and balance

Radoua spent close to 10 years in Belgium’s financial sector, first as a savings and investment advisor at KBC and then in asset management at AG Insurance, the country’s largest insurer. Through these roles, she developed in-depth expertise in financial operations and trust structures. A Bachelor of Business Administration graduate with a specialization in marketing, she also oversees the firm’s brand presence, pairing financial discipline with creative flair. Before settling in Montreal, Radoua travelled around the world with her family. She is still drawn to wide-open spaces, turquoise waters and culinary discoveries.

On the trust team, Marie-Josée oversees complex files involving corporations and trusts that hold unique, high-value assets such as real estate, works of art and collectibles. Committed to best practices, she works closely with the compliance team, responding to verification requests and helping uphold the firm’s policies and procedures. Painting is her creative outlet, while gardening brings her calm, patience and inspiration.

Magalie has worked in the securities and financial institutions sector for more than 25 years. She specializes in international taxation and complex regulatory compliance, including FATCA and CRS. She also plays an active role in managing the tax, operational and regulatory aspects of the firm’s custody activities. Magalie holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Université du Québec à Montréal and is a CPA. A passionate traveller who has visited six continents, she combines intellectual curiosity with remarkable adaptability

Ji excels at identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements. Before joining the firm, he spent five years with a Montreal-based fintech company, helping continuously improve an application that automates investment accounting. A strategist during the week and a chicken keeper on weekends, Ji enjoys balancing complex projects with the simple pleasures of his sustainable microfarm.

Matthew joined the firm after seven years in wealth management at CIBC, RBC and SS&C, where his roles included Bloomberg Administrator and Performance Analyst. Along the way, he built a strong command of the technology tools used across the financial sector. A candidate in the CFA Program, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Finance and Accounting. An outdoorsman at heart, Matthew spends his weekends fishing.

Methodical and thorough, Adja draws on more than 10 years of experience in regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering and ongoing controls, including eight years in Senegal. She holds a master’s degree in Audit and Management Control and the CAMS certification. She joined the firm in 2023 as a Compliance Analyst and has worked in the custody department since 2024, contributing to operations, data quality and internal controls. Family time is precious to Adja, who also loves to cook and is a big fan of film and music.

Andrée has been building her accounting expertise for more than 25 years. She started out as a purchasing and accounting clerk and has since moved into management roles, coordinating financial operations. Over the years, she has helped companies oversee their cash flow, compliance and accounting obligations. Andrée loves reading and travelling, which broaden her horizons, and spends time outdoors to stay grounded.

Honseenta is a lawyer by training, holding a Licentiate in Law (LL.L) and a Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Ottawa. A member of the Law Society of Ontario, she brings more than 10 years of experience in the financial sector, where she has held a range of roles and developed expertise in compliance, regulation, governance and risk management. Honseenta likes to spend her free time immersed in a good book or out on long walks.

Mason is a business-minded legal advisor who supports the broader group on commercial, corporate, trust, fiduciary, structuring, governance, regulatory and strategic matters. He works closely with leadership and client-facing teams to assess opportunities, address complex issues and implement practical, commercially reasonable solutions. Mason holds a B.A. from McGill University, as well as an LL.B. and a J.D. from Université de Montréal. He is a member of the Barreau du Québec. Mason loves travelling, playing guitar and catching live shows, and is just as happy waterskiing, hitting the gym or tackling a home improvement project. When he isn’t doing any of that, he can usually be found manning the barbecue.

Before joining 1642 Capital, Guillaume spent more than seven years in senior finance roles within the securities industry, including roles as Vice-President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. A CPA and a graduate of HEC Montréal, he specializes in financial management, internal controls, regulatory compliance and the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program. His command of IFRS and ASPE accounting standards, risk management and governance allows him to help clients manage their wealth prudently and transparently. When he steps away from the numbers, Guillaume heads out to cycle the roads and trails of Quebec.

Cynthia ensures the accuracy of 1642 Capital’s accounting operations, including invoice processing and verification, bank reconciliations, supplier payments and account monitoring. Her consistency and attention to detail help keep the whole team on track. Cynthia’s favourite ways to unwind are cooking, going for walks and spending time with her dog.

A 2019 graduate of the Paralegal Technology program, Alyssa first put her training to work as a paralegal. Her path then led her in new directions, and she now works as a receptionist, drawing on her organizational and communication skills. Alongside her career, Alyssa is an accomplished author, with three published novels, a fourth on the way and several other literary projects in progress.

Pierre Matuszewski is Chair of the Board of Directors of Brightstone. He is an executive coach for leaders in the public and private sectors, and serves on the boards of Export Development Canada and its subsidiary FinDev Canada. He is also Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors of McGill University and a member of Tremcar’s advisory committee. Since 2021, he has served as a municipal councillor for the Village of Senneville.

From 2009 to 2018, Pierre served as President of Société Générale (Canada), a Schedule II chartered bank and subsidiary of the French bank Société Générale S.A. During the same period, he was President of its securities arm, Société Générale Capital Canada, where he also acted as the designated responsible person. Earlier in his career, he held senior investment banking roles at several prominent Canadian financial institutions. In March 2024, he completed an eight-year term as a director of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund.

Serge Bilodeau is a Senior Advisor at the law firm BCF, where he provides guidance on strategic development, tax planning, business succession and large-scale transactions.

Before joining BCF, Serge spent over 30 years as a tax partner at a major international accounting firm. Drawing on this background, he advises leading Canadian and international companies and helps Quebec families pass their businesses on to the next generation. His extensive experience in managing relationships with tax authorities, including Quebec’s Ministry of Finance, also allows him to act as an expert witness in tax-related legal proceedings.

Today, Serge serves on boards of directors and is a trusted advisor to prominent business families.

Antoinette Bozac is a legal advisor in business, corporate and commercial law, affiliated with McCarthy Tétrault through its MT>Connect division. For more than 25 years, she has served as an executive and board member of publicly traded, private and Crown corporations across highly regulated sectors, including trusts, pension plans and financial institutions.

She has held leadership roles in compliance, governance, human resources, legal affairs, public affairs, risk management and insurance. Antoinette has also overseen business and operational strategies, corporate social responsibility initiatives and stakeholder engagement with investors, shareholders and regulators. She holds a degree with distinction from Concordia University, a law degree from McGill University and a Lean Six Sigma certification.

Marc Doré is a strategic consultant and corporate director. In 2020, he joined Cogir Real Estate, where he served as Chief Investment and Asset Management Officer and as President of Development and Construction.

Marc has worked across investment, financing and management in both private and public companies. His past roles include Managing Director and Chief Investment and Asset Management Officer at SITQ (Ivanhoé Cambridge, Global), Managing Director at Fengate Real Assets, CEO of Seasons Retirement Communities and Chief Investment Officer at Réseau Sélection. He was also President and Chief Operating Officer of PEAK Financial Group.

Marc is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Université du Québec à Montréal. He also took part in an executive leadership program at the University of Oxford.

Sophia Bennaceur is an executive specializing in organizational transformation, financial strategy and corporate governance. She led Morgan Stanley’s technology centre in Montreal, overseeing more than 3,000 employees and driving major initiatives in recruitment, diversity and operational excellence. She also held executive roles at Société Générale, where she headed significant restructuring and regulatory compliance projects.

She currently serves on the boards of Equisoft, the Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui and Arion Orchestre Baroque. Sophia is a graduate of HEC Paris, the University of Exeter and Université Paris Dauphine. She has a talent for aligning strategy, performance and human impact in complex, fast-evolving environments
